I am passionate about High Resolves because…

It is through education that we can transform the way we see ourselves, the world and our role within it. High Resolves provides important opportunities for people to better understand the oppressive structures of society and how they have contributed to both past and present inequities and harmful divisions. Most importantly, it focuses on helping participants develop the attitudes, values and skills needed to take action and create inclusive communities, locally and globally. I am passionate about High Resolves because it is helping people create much-needed change.

From presenting at conferences nationally on systemic racism, creating museum exhibits on the power of learning for immigrants, to creating podcasts on the history of Residential Schools, Rebecca has dedicated the last seven years to dismantling systems of oppression through experiential education. As an Intern at the Toronto office, Rebecca has been able to experience a multitude of different aspects and the fundamental work which High Resolves is a part of.

I am passionate about High Resolves because…

Education is the essential element in breaking down oppressive structures that have been built by intolerance, hate, and bigotry. High Resolves is an organization that is committed to creating a safe, experiential, and long-lasting structure for the education of young people. The more I learn and experience the work of High Resolves, I realize how much my education was lacking as a student, and how different our world would look if everyone had a small understanding of the High Resolves education. I am passionate about High Resolves because I am passionate about radical transformation against the structures and hierarchies of power, and that is what High Resolves is doing through the education of young people across the world.

Our history

The Toronto hub started in the 2016-2017 school year with Kingsway College School signing on to be our first official school outside of Australia and Smithfield Middle School being our second.

In the 2017-2018 school year, we worked with six schools across the private and public sector. Thanks to the Lobo family and their network within the education sector, we have been able to reach 1000 students in the two years we have been in Toronto.

Our work

Case Study: Kingsway College School

High Resolves has worked with Kingsway College School for the last two years as part of the school’s broader leadership and citizenship program. In the upcoming school year, grade 7 students will participate in three Peak Experiences and complete a number of the Teaching Resources and Base Camp Series to continue their growth as global citizens. Students will then have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the school’s year-end leadership project.
